London’s “The Big One”, DC’s Pre-Earth Day Event, The Climate Daily Reforestation Campaign!

LONDON’S “THE BIG ONE”

With the support of more than 70 organizations, including EARTHDAY.ORG, the Extinction Rebellion has organized arguably the largest environmental protest of 2023. Starting on the streets of London, 100,000 individuals (about the seating capacity of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum) are expected to march side by side to fight for Parliament to act against the climate crisis.

Starting Friday, the 21st, individuals will unite to survive by flooding Westminster with a wave of flags and banners. Saturday the 22nd will be an enormous celebration of individuals united for nature, biodiversity, and the planet, and led by a family-friendly march in honor of Earth Day. To finish the weekend off, The Big One will be joining forces with the London Marathon on Sunday the 23rd to engage with the huge crowds of spectators and completing the four-day event on Monday the 24th by delivering the demand to Parliament to choose a green future. WASHINGTON, DC’S APRIL 21 PRE-EARTH DAY EVENT

In celebration of Earth Day, national nonprofit Upstream and World Wildlife Fund (WWF) will host an event to celebrate the rapid growth and explore opportunities to expand reuse systems in the US to address the global single-use waste crisis. The event will feature public announcements from Federal Government agencies.

  •       Date: Friday, April 21, 2023
  •       TIme: 9:30 am media check in; Opening Remarks/Announcements at 10am, followed by reuse panels and roundtables
  •       Location: The Anthem, 901 Wharf Street SW, Washington, DC 20024

With more than 30 cities having reuse directors or initiatives, over 150 reuse companies formed within the last five years, and a growing customer demand, the event aims to highlight the immense scale of reuse happening on a grassroots level and the potential for the future via the event’s planned announcements, educational panels and roundtable discussions. Event Goals:

  •       To educate the public and policy makers about how reuse systems work
  •       To demonstrate the growth of reuse in the US on a grassroots basis
  •       To introduce leading players in the movement
  •       To encourage greater awareness and adoption of reuse systems and how reuse can play a role in solving our global single-use crisis
  •       To highlight reuse’s benefits to climate and decarbonization and public health
  •       To promote reuse as integral part of international plastics treaty negotiations

Why does this pre-earth day event matter to us? Said Priscilla Johnson, Chief Strategy Officer at Upstream, “Transitioning to a New Reuse Economy will require everyone to come to the table — innovators, corporate sustainability officers, investors, NGO staff, community and environmental justice leaders and government officials — working together to transform how we consume.” To RSVP or for more information, please contact or Denice Zeck at dzeck@mediaforum.org or 202-355-8875 or Vanessa Tiongson at vanessa@upstreamsolutions.org.

THE CLIMATE DAILY’S 50/100 REFORESTATION CAMPAIGN!

Remember how in January we at The Climate Daily launched our first ever Climate Champions Massive Tree Reforestation campaign? Well in honor of upcoming Earth Day 2023, we’re launching The Climate Champions 50/100 campaign! What’s a climate champion, you ask? A climate champion proves that a small group of people can make a massive impact on the planet in a short amount of time. How? Our company, The Climate, is partnering with over 30 international tree-planting organizations–ALONG WITH our climate champions– to re-plant, and regrow forests all over the world, by planting ten thousand trees at a time. Why? Because science says the best way to combat climate change is to restore nature. And the fastest way to restore nature is to plant and grow a trillion trees, and the fastest way to plant and grow a trillion trees is to replant and regrow forests. The fastest way to do that is to plant ten thousand trees at a time,

And the fastest and most fun way to plant ten thousand trees at a time is to fundraise with friends, climate champions. So, we’re looking for folks to donate $50 or $100 one time, to help us plant 10,000 trees at a time, in one of seven regions around the planet. (Which our tree planting partners will do. They’re the tree-planting professionals.)

Please visit champions.theclimate.org/climate hyphen champions/50or100. Click on the donate button and join our team of climate champions today. Again, visit champions.theclimate.org/climate hyphen champions/50or100. Click on the donate button and join our team of climate champions today. And if you want to start your own team of climate champions, reach out to us at info@34.203.12.8. Well help you put together your own small group of climate champions to make a massive impact on the planet in a short amount of time.

(Planting 10 thousand trees–a 20-acre forest!) Wouldn’t it be great to be the change you want to see in the world? Go to champions.theclimate.org/climate hyphen champions/50or100and become part of something special. Become a climate champion.  Thank you!!
